Momordica Charantia
Bitter Melon - Bitter Melon is  a completely natural fruit that supports the body's normal blood glucose levels. Unlike many herbs, Bitter Melon (Momordica charantia) is commonly eaten as a dish in India, proof positive of its safety. Bitter Melon, also known as Bitter Gourd, has been traditionally used to regulate blood glucose levels within the normal limits. It contains compounds called charantin and momordicin., a polypeptide that has been shown in experimental studies to achieve its regulating effect by suppressing the neural response to sweet taste stimuli. Bitter Melon is also a natural source of Vitamin C.
  • Helps support normal blood glucose levels with compounds called charantin and momordicin. Additional key compounds such as vicine, peptides, and polypeptide-p (plant insulin) also work together to give Bitter Melon its potency.

Gymnema Sylvestre

The herb Gymnema is traditionally known in India as  "gurmar" (the sugar destroyer). The key component of Gymnema - gymnemic acid - mimics glucose molecules, numbing receptor sites on your tongue. Petrocarpus Marsupium

The aqueous infusion of the wood is considered to be of much use in diabetes. It used as astringent and also in the treatment of diabetes.

The alcoholic, as well as, aqueous extract of heartwood is known to possess hypoglycemic action.

The cups made from wood of the tree are available with Khadi and Gramodyog industries for cure of diabetes. Vijaysar has been documented to help in regeneration of B Cells of pancreas.


Salacia Retriculata

Salacia is an herb that is native to India and Sri Lanka. The root and stem are used for management of diabetes Salacia reticulata, helps normalize blood sugar and insulin levels, and support healthy blood lipids. Traditionally used in Ayurvedic medicine to treat diabetes, more recently it has been used as a supplementary food in Japan to prevent diabetes and obesity.


Curcuma longa
Studies have shown that the turmeric antioxidant agents can help reduce the resistance to insulin, one that can help prevent or manage type 2 diabetes. Even a teaspoon of turmeric powder twice a day during meals can help a lot.

Eugenia Jambolana

Jambul fruit is regarded in Ayurveda as a specific against Diabetes, because of its effect on pancreas. The fruit as such, the seeds, and fruit juice are all useful in treating diabetes. The seeds contain a glucoside “Jambosin” (alkaloid) which is believed to have the power to check the pathological conversion of starch into sugar in cases of excessive production of Glucose.

Charaka recommends eating Jambul fruit to improve function of the liver and digestion The leaves and bark are used for controlling high blood pressure


Emblica Officinalis

It is an excellent Rasayan, for you this just a gooseberry, but for a diabetic, this is one of the ingredients that controls diabetes.

Clinical studies on Emblica Officinalis have been shown to improve the functional state of pancreatic beta cells as well as increasing the uptake of glucose by the cells. Anti-Ageing , tonic, immune-stimulant.


Tinospora Cordifolia

Guduchi (Tinospora cordifolia) is very effective in improving the body’s immune system. It is also an effective immunostimulant. Guduchi herb helps in treating different types of fever and dyspepsia, very effective in treating hepatitis, arthritis and recurrent infections. Guduchi possesses anti-inflammatory, antibacterial, anti-allergic and anti-rheumatic properties. Regulates blood sugar level and hence very effective in diabetes & hypoglycaemia.

Scientist tested out that daily dose of Guduchi decreases the blood glucose level and increases glucose tolerance in rodents. Aqueous extract of Guduchi also caused a reduction in blood sugar The aqueous extract of roots of Guduchi has shown the anti-oxidant action in alloxan diabetes.


Ocimum Sanctum

Tulsi prevents all types of infections in general and skin infections in particular. Also controls respiratory track infections. Anti Viral, anti-bacterial. Tones up immune system to fight infective organisms.



In traditional medicine cinnamon has been used for management of diabetes. Several studies have shown a improved insulin sensitivity and blood glucose control by using cinnamon. Improving insulin can help in weight controls well as decreasing the risk of heart disease . Several studies suggest that cinnamon may have a regulatory effect on blood sugar, making it especially beneficial for people with type-2 diabetes.



Is a flowering plant that grows in warm climate like India and Philippines. Banaba has been widely used in Philippines as herbal medicine for diabetes . In India Banaba is also used in Ayurvedic medicine for treatment of diabetes. Banaba is also rich in vitamins and minerals including zinc and magnesium. Banaba is also rich in dietary fiber. Banaba leaf extract have been shown to have synergistic effect in improving glucose metabolism.


Zinc Gluconate

Zinc, the second most abundant trace mineral in the body, plays critical roles in glucose regulation, the proper function of insulin. A number of present day factors have caused Zinc deficiencies to become quite common. These factors include modern agricultural and food processing practices.  Unfortunately deficiencies of Zinc put people at a greater risk of Syndrome X. A recent study on rural and urban adults found that the prevalence of coronary, artery disease, diabetes and glucose intolerance was significantly higher among those consuming lower intake of dietary Zinc. This same study also found that a Zinc intakes rose among subjects, there was significantly lower prevalence of hypertension, high triglyceride levels, low HDL levels and abdominal obesity.  These of course are all components of Syndrome X.


Zinc Gluconate and insulin function:
The link between zinc deficiency and Syndrome X makes sense when you consider Zinc’s role in insulin function. Zinc is needed to help the pancreas to produce insulin, to allow insulin to work more effectively and to protect insulin receptors on cells. When Zinc levels are low two things can happen. One, the pancreas may not secret adequate amounts of insulin, so glucose levels remain high. Two, the insulin that is released may not work as effectively as it should. When this happens, glucose cannot enter cells and remain elevated in the blood. The body typically responds to high glucose levels by pumping out more and more insulin in an effort, to lower glucose levels, but the insulin does not work properly, so insulin levels rise and stay high. When this happens, Syndrome X and Cascade of the health problem that accompany it can result.


Chromium increases the power of insulin to process sugar, so you need less insulin to do the job, and blood levels drop. If chromium is low you need about  ten times more insulin to process sugar, says Dr. Anderson. Thus,  with adequate chromium, much less insulin circulates in the blood to attack artery walls, precipitating atherosclerosis, and possibly plunging you into adult-onset (Type II) diabetes. By reactivating insulin, chromium alleviates some of the danger of “Insulin resistance” that comes on with age. Chromium can even improve insulin resistance in diabetics, according to several studies.

Normalize Blood Sugar:
Excessive blood sugar promotes diabetes and high blood sugar, chromium supplements will bring it down. Amazingly, if you have low blood sugar, choromium will bring it up. Chromium has an “adaptogen” effect, says Dr. Anderson, meaning it normalizes blood sugar, no matter what the imbalance. This probably results from chormium’s ability to normalize insulin, he says. In one double –blind study of eleven diabetics taking chromium cased fasting blood sugar to fall 24 percent in eight of them, presumably those deficient in chromium. If your blood sugar is normal, chromium has no effect on it.


Zychrome - is a next generation, patent-pending "super" chromium containing 9% elemental chromium, niacin, and L-cysteine. In research studies, Zychrome outperformed other chromium compounds in all of the areas that are most critical for people with blood sugar concerns -- improving glucose metabolism, helping balance inflammation, and enhancing antioxidant status. For instance, it reduced fasting insulin levels 33% better than chromium picolinate alone, and it was twice as effective as chromium at reducing insulin resistance.
